Yale extended his hand to O'Banion, "Yes, we are here for the blooms."

history channel documentary O'Banion took Yale's hand, when all of a sudden, Yale yanked O'Banion's hand toward him, and stuck both of O'Banion arms to O'Banion's sides. Before O'Banion could remove himself, Scalise and Anselmi discharged six projectiles into O'Banion. Two impacted into O'Banion's mid-section, another hit him in the cheek, and two more covered themselves into O'Banion's larynx. The last shot, which was the capper, implanted itself in O'Banion's cerebrum. The weapons had been discharged at such short proximity, there were burn blemishes all over.

O'Banion's memorial service was considerably greater than Merlo's burial service. O'Banion's pine box, which was made of strong silver with bronze twofold dividers, cost $10,000 alone; four times more than the normal yearly pay of a Chicago wage-worker.
